Germany advanced from Group E at the 2026 FIFA World Cup as group winners, though Ecuador gave them a scare in the final match.
Group E Results
Germany delivered the tournament's most eye-catching result early on, demolishing Curaçao 7–1 on June 14 — one of the biggest wins in World Cup history, and the third time Germany have scored seven or more in a World Cup match. They followed it up with a 2–1 win over Ivory Coast on June 20 to all but secure qualification.
However, Ecuador pulled off a surprise in the group's final round of fixtures on June 25, beating Germany 2–1. The result mattered little for Germany, who had already wrapped up top spot, but Ecuador's win put them through as group runners-up over Ivory Coast.
